Assignment 10
For my cover page I wanted to have a clean and simple Logo and tag line. I like the flowing lines of the font for the Meliorist title. The font would work well with pretty much any picture I think, I chose it so that the title would be interchangable for each issue.
My two page spread I think worked out very well. I used a fairly large image to draw the readers in, I think people respond more to photographs than if there were just plain text. I chose the picture because it shows alot of pollution being distributed into the air and the colours are very vibrant. The bottom picture shows the pollution left from oil sands projects after they leave a site. Even though the crews are gone the pollution left behind lasts many years after they leave.

Assignment #8
When I was first looking for designers to research, I kept stumbling across the name David Carson. His name popped up every time I searched influential designers of the 20th century. It seemed to me that he was definitley one of the designers that made the industry what it is today. I really like the way he can take text and transform it into something that looks very complex but really it is just a bunch of letters, which is basically just a arbitrary form. I also took a liking to Carson because he never actually took any formal training. I think it is amazing how people can come from nowhere and become one of the best at what they do. Carson set the standads pretty high for aspiring designers, but this is good because it makes everyone work that much harder to be noticed.

Assignment #6
The colors of my add continually show up as the ones you see, not sure why this is happening. But the cat is supposed to be orange, and the chickens are supposed to be royal blue, along with the feathers above the cats head.
I chose the font Pussycat Snickers because for one, I have never even heard about it, and the name is quite interesting I thought. It is definitely a font that would not be used everyday or for legal papers or something like that. The font I thought was very lively and playful, so I took that idea and tried to make a fun and enjoyable ad.
I really had a lot of fun with this assignment and thought that the final project came out pretty much how I thought it was going to when I started it.

Assignment #3: Thoughts
I actually had a lot of fun with this assignment. When I read the assignment guidelines I never really thought it would be as enjoyable to do as it was.
My favorite composition that I made was the symmetrical balance with the Circles. I am not sure what I like about it, except that I like the way the little circles appear to cut into the bigger one leaving nice crisp lines. I also really enjoy the low contrast squares design.
